Cyber security education is key for unlocking a safer future. As a team, this is our core belief.
This is also why we build educational assets that are free for anyone to read and apply, no matter the background and skill level. We believe that shared experience and knowledge can help all of us expand our own know-how.
The more you know, the safer you will be online!
IoT: The Internet of Things
When people talk about "the next big thing," they're never thinking big enough. It's not a lack of imagination; it's a lack of observation. I've maintained that the future is always within sight, and you don't need to imagine what's already there.
The Internet of Things revolves around increased machine-to-machine communication; it’s built on cloud computing and networks of data-gathering sensors; it’s mobile, virtual, and instantaneous connection; and they say it’s going to make everything in our lives from streetlights to seaports “smart.”
In the simplest terms, cloud computing means storing and accessing data and programs over the Internet instead of your computer's hard drive. The cloud is just a metaphor for the Internet. It goes back to the days of flowcharts and presentations that would represent the gigantic server-farm infrastructure of the Internet as nothing but a puffy, white cumulus cloud, accepting connections and doling out information as it floats.
Tech Club! What is that?
It's an extracurricular enrichment club for students with an interest in exploring different forms of technology. There are many possibilities for how such a club may be structured and lots of options for different areas of focus. The size and type of club will be influenced by the amount of funding/equipment available, the needs and interests of the students and their families, the time and energy you are willing to commit as leader of the club, and many other factors.
STEM Club (England)
A STEM Club is any out-of-timetable session that gives school students the chance to explore aspects of science, technology, engineering and maths.
STEM Clubs tend not to be curriculum based, but can focus on specific disciplines or go across STEM subjects. A STEM Club could be about computer coding, maths puzzles, robotics, engineering, chemistry, astronomy… anything that falls within STEM subjects! Have a look at a full A- Z of STEM Clubs List.
STEM Clubs take place outside of lesson time (lunchtime or after school) and come in all shapes and sizes. Clubs take place in secondary schools and usually cater for KS3 students, but some clubs also work with KS4 and primary aged students.
The format of the club depends entirely on what suits the needs of the teachers, school and students. Activities can include practical experiments, investigations, group work, competitions, discussion and reflection, but most of all they should be fun.
Connections Academy .
Connections Academy online public schools are expanding rapidly throughout the United States to serve more students. We work with state education officials, leading education publishers, and curriculum experts to ensure that each school meets the highest accreditation standards in every state, as well as our own standards for excellence.
Keeping Virtual Students Connected
Even in virtual schooling, students are connected to a community. They meet regularly in online LiveLesson® sessions and have opportunities to share ideas, compare experiences, and have fun learning together. Students are always able to choose the level of social interaction they're comfortable with—whether in a Connections Academy online club or in their own community.
